Wellbeing & SEAL

Wellbeing Is Part of Every Day

At Castle Park, wellbeing is not a separate programme or a one-off initiative. It is part of daily school life and shapes how pupils learn, behave, relate to others and see themselves.

Every pupil is known, supported and listened to from their first day. Small class sizes, consistent relationships with staff and a strong culture of kindness help pupils feel secure, confident and ready to engage in learning.

Our SEAL Programme

Wellbeing at Castle Park is underpinned by our bespoke SEAL programme (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning). Designed specifically for our school, SEAL builds social, emotional and life skills gradually from the early years through to 6th Class.

Through SEAL, pupils learn to:

  • Recognise and manage their emotions
  • Build positive relationships
  • Develop resilience and self-belief
  • Use strategies to cope with challenge and change

These are practical skills that support both learning in school and life beyond it.

What our parents say

What I notice most is how settled she is. She knows the teachers care about her – not just how she’s doing academically, but how she actually feels. That gives me enormous peace of mind.

How We Build Wellbeing Throughout School Life

  • Personal Development Days

Each year group takes part in an annual Personal Development Day (PDD). These age-appropriate days provide dedicated time away from the usual classroom routine to focus on wellbeing, leadership, emotional intelligence and personal growth.

  • Supporting Transitions

Transitions are carefully planned and managed, particularly from Pre-Primary into Primary and from one year group to the next. Changes are introduced gradually, helping pupils feel confident and secure as expectations increase.

  • Pupil Voice and Relationships

Pupils have a strong voice in school life through student councils, peer mediation and daily opportunities to talk openly with staff. Castle Park is very much a “talking school” – pupils know who to go to, how to share concerns and how to support one another.

When issues arise – as they do in any school – pupils know who to talk to and feel safe doing so.

  • What Pupils Leave With

By the time pupils leave Castle Park, they understand themselves better. They can recognise emotions, use positive self-talk, show empathy and approach challenges with confidence and a growth mindset.

Parents consistently comment on the calm, kind atmosphere of the school and the confidence they see in their pupils – a place where every child feels safe to be themselves and supported to grow.
