    Pre-Prep 2 News

In Pre-Prep 2 the children are currently learning about the Arctic and Antarctica.  We have investigated the differences between these two regions and the children had great fun identifying different animals from these areas.  We learned interesting facts about the Polar Bear and Penguin, and they loved listening to stories relating to the different polar animals.

On our last day of the half term, the children showed great interest in learning about Chinese New Year – ‘the Year of the Ox’, and the highlight for everyone was when they got the chance to come onto Zoom in fancy dress.

We have continued to focus on 2-D and 3-D shapes in Numeracy and the children have been busy practising addition sums.  In Literacy, our main focus is still letter formation, and since returning after mid-term, we are introducing the children to rhyming words, phonograms and sight words.  The boys and girls will have a chance to listen to Julia Donaldson’s rhyming stories over the next few weeks where they will identify rhyming words.  “Fox’s Socks” was our first story and they all thoroughly enjoyed the activities relating to the publication.
