Castle Park has been educating pupils on this remarkable piece of coastline since 1904. What has not changed in over a century is the thing families tell us matters most: the moment they walk through the door, they feel the difference.
We are a primary school – only a primary school – and that focus matters. Our pupils are not competing with older year groups for attention, space or resource. From PP1 to 6th Class, everything here is built around one stage of life, and the particular needs of pupils aged 2 to 12.

The Castle Park experience
A primary school unlike any other in Ireland
Set within the grounds of a period castle on the Dalkey coastline, Castle Park is a school that has to be seen to be understood. Eleven acres of mature grounds, a 25-metre swimming pool, an outdoor amphitheatre classroom and a forest circle shaded by hundred-year-old trees. Families describe it as something out of a storybook. The reality is even better.
We are a primary school, and only a primary school. That singular focus shapes everything – the culture, the care, the pace of daily life. Pupils are not the youngest in a large campus. They are at the centre of it. Small classes mean every teacher knows every pupil, and a broad programme of hobbies, performances, sport and outdoor learning means every pupil finds where they belong.
The balance of academic rigour and genuine wellbeing is something families feel from the first visit. Healthy, happy, well-prepared pupils – that is what Castle Park has been producing since 1904, and it is still what we set out to do every day.
The Castle Park School journey

Pre-Primary (2-4 yrs)
A warm, safe and carefully structured start to school life. From Pre-Primary 1, pupils are known by name, settled into routine and given the space to grow in confidence, communication and independence – at a pace that is right for them.
Primary (4-12 yrs)
Strong academics, specialist teaching and a broad range of experience beyond the classroom. As pupils move through 1st to 6th Class, they develop into confident learners, kind classmates and resilient young people – ready for whatever comes next.
