    The 1916 Ancestor Centenary Project

Involving every child in the School undertaking research, our 1916 Ancestor Centenary Project focussed on what members of our families were doing 100 years ago. We found out many interesting facts and information and discovered that our families lived in many places other than Ireland too. From men who fought in the rising in the area around Dublin’s Boland’s Mills, to others fighting on the Somme; from settlers on the American prairies to relatives living in China – we realise what a wide and varied world our ancestors experienced, just as we do today. Many thanks to Mr Meade for coordinating the project which was beautifully displayed in The Street at the same time as members from Óglaigh na hÉireann visited to present us with our replica national flag as part of the nationwide 1916 Centenary commemorations involving every school in the country.
