Dublin Primary Schools Basketball
The senior girls and boys basketball squads recently participated in the highly-anticipated Dublin Primary School Mini-Basketball competition at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on June 10th and 11th, 2019. With two years of consistent training, including lunch breaks, games lessons, and after-school activities, these dedicated athletes showcased unprecedented commitment and skill that exceeded expectations.
The girls’ team emerged as victors, securing two wins out of three games. Although a defeat against Coole National School in their first game left the team undeterred, they defeated Scoil Aine Raheny and Dublin 7 ETNS to clinch a commendable third place. The forwards, Robyn, Carlotta, Tiril, Emily, Nika, and Clara, displayed outstanding performance in areas such as rebounding, defence, and scoring under the hoop. On the other hand, the guards – Anya, Alisa, Ella, Stella, Sophie, and Cara – demonstrated exceptional teamwork, executing fast breaks, effective passing, and skilful identification of open shooters. Unfortunately, the absence of Addison, one of our star players renowned for her ability to dominate a game, was noticeable.
Meanwhile, the boys’ team showcased remarkable skill and determination, triumphing over O’Connell Primary National School, St Kilian’s Junior School, Ballyroan Boys National School (second team), and Ballyroan Boys National School (first team), winning all four games. This impressive success resulted from their unwavering hard work, trust in their teammates, and never-give-up attitude.
Over the past few years, our school’s basketball level has steadily improved, and we couldn’t be prouder of our players. We hope they cherish these special moments and succeed in their future sporting endeavours.
