    Poetry Wall in The Street

All the students in the School, from Montessori Year One to Form VI, completed a poetry unit before the Christmas break, reflecting their literacy skills through a particular form of poetry. Montessori students in Year One explored the sounds from the first letter of their names, while Year Two students All the students in the School, from Montessori Year One to Form VI, completed a poetry unit before the Christmas break, reflecting their literacy skills through a particular form of poetry. Montessori students in Year One explored the sounds from the first letter of their names, while Year Two students expanded this through exploring other nouns beginning with the same sound. Pre-Prep children developed this idea by writing acrostic poems using their own names as the theme for noun exploration. Form I students focused on rhyming poems, Form II on diamond poems, Form III on biography poems, Form IV on name poems linked to their class novel study, Form V created cinquains while Form VI wrote haikus.

It is lovely to see the progression in writing themes and content from the youngest students in our School to the students at the senior end. It is also a fun way to share our developing literacy skills and to share with one another our compositions. The Poetry Wall is beginning to take shape in The Street, please do stop if you have a moment and take a look at your children’s lovely work. Ms H Ledermann, Leader of Literacy
