    World Book Day 2017

Our annual School Calendar incorporates Literacy Week, scheduled to include World Book Day which took place this year on Thursday 2nd March. A full week’s programme of activities was organised for the children throughout the School, some of the highlights this year included a Read-a-thon; visits by authors and book illustrators; a performance of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” by the Miriam Lambert Puppet Theatre and Dress Up Day to which four sisters came along as Jo, Beth, Amy & Meg March from “Little Women”! The children also enjoyed decorating their classroom doors, either as a book jacket or themed to their favourite author.

To reflect the wide-ranging ethnic and cultural backgrounds in our community we also arranged a morning of Parent Reading Stations on World Book Day. Fifteen reading stations were manned by parents who read aloud in their native languages from illustrated children’s storybooks. The children in Pre-Prep and from Forms I to III really enjoyed this wonderful opportunity. This year we were joined by twenty-two parents who read in fourteen different languages including Ukranian and Kazakh. Thank you all so much for coming along to join in the fun.
